| How
it works - Dry Sump System Explained |
|
The Scavenger is the TOTAL oil change
solution. This patented tool flushes all of the oil out of
dry sump engines, like most American V-Twin engines. Dry
sump engines have an oil tank separate from the engine where
most of the oil is stored, and a two stage oil pump.
The first stage of the pump draws oil from
the tank, and pushes it to the points of lubrication. After
passing these "points of lubrication" the oil falls to the
sump (bottom) of the engine.
The second stage of the oil pump draws oil
from the sump, and returns it back to the oil tank, where it
is recirculated. The accepted method for an oil change is to
drain the oil tank and refill it with fresh oil. This leaves
approximately 24 ounces of used oil in the engine. |
